Doug May is WealthSource Partners’ Chief Investment Officer and lends three decades of portfolio management experience to our clients. He began his career in 1983 as an Assistant Portfolio Manager for Norwest Bank Minnesota and then became a Fixed Income Trader and Portfolio Manager for its subsidiary, United Capital Management (“UCM”) in 1985. While at UCM, Doug traded government, corporate, and municipal bonds for their national account base. In 1995, Doug became a Portfolio Manager for First Commercial Capital Management (FCCM) in Little Rock, Arkansas. In addition to managing his client’s portfolios, Doug authored FCCM’s quarterly investment letters, explaining portfolio strategies to key FCCM clients.
In 1998, Doug had the opportunity to return to his home state of Colorado by becoming a Senior Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo Private Asset Management. During Doug’s tenure at Wells Fargo, he managed assets for foundations and individual investors and evaluated and researched stock ideas for Wells Fargo’s buy list. In 2005, Doug started his own investment advisory firm, May-Investments, which he built to over $63 million in assets in just eight years.
Doug is married with three active boys. He is involved in the community and has served on numerous boards, including the boards for the Museum of Western Colorado and the Colorado Mesa University Foundation. Doug received his Bachelor degree in Economics from Stanford in 1983 and became a CFA® charter holder in 1987.
