Kelly provides investment and financial planning advice to clients of the firm, which gives him a unique perspective. Prior to joining WealthSource, Kelly was a Partner and Financial Advisor of Vellum Financial, one of two firms that merged to form WealthSource, and operated Vellum’s Santa Maria, California, office. Kelly graduated in 1993 from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2009 and 2010, receiving his certificate of completion for the course work necessary to take the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) examination, which he took and successfully passed in November 2010. Kelly also holds the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) designation, which he received from the College for Financial Planning in November 2004.
Kelly enjoys working with individuals and professionals that are within 10 years of retirement, as well as small business owners that need assistance with company sponsored retirement plans. Kelly works closely with his clients to learn what is really important to them, and to find out their “why” to investing. He likes to get “back to the basics” and help provide answers to those questions that keep his clients awake at night. His goal is to provide general education to his clients, empowering them to understand the markets and economy, which provides them with the clarity to understand the importance of investing and reaching their goals. Kelly, like the rest of the WealthSource team, strives to always be available to listen to our clients’ needs and to offer viable solutions. He is always looking at improving the level of service and efficiency our firm provides so that our clients always have an outstanding experience when working with WealthSource Partners.
Kelly began his career in the financial services industry in 1996 and has worked at various firms. He joined Vellum Financial in 2010 because he wanted to be part of a firm where transparency, client focus, and growth were at the center of the firm’s culture. Kelly contributes to the communities of both Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo through his involvement as a Rotarian in the Santa Maria Breakfast Rotary Group, which is an affiliate of Rotary International. Kelly has been married for 21 years to his wife, Elena. During any “precious spare time” he has, Kelly enjoys golfing, cycling, and spending time with friends and family.
